Ekun Omi
Synopsis
Based on the fictional book, Ekun Omi follows the experiences of Agboogun as he goes through a series of epiphanies and past times. In Nigeria in the early 70’s, with the inception of westernization and remnants of colonisation, he is faced with life changing questions that are destiny altering and explores the impact on him as an African man in stranger times and a stranger land. His aim to find liberation in his solitude is questioned and challenged by fate in forms of apparitions of a young man and Obadare the seer, an old man with great foresight. His story highlights the incredible change that occurs through migration and the ontological questions that come with recalling ones identity whilst encountering different experiences and cultures. This tale invokes the the ability to face the complex questions of why Africans migrate, to what end and at what cost.
