Synopsis

An arduous train journey brings the protagonist back from Mumbai to the home he has left to pursue his education. Along the way, during the long, difficult travel he revisits snatches from his childhood; an idyllic boyhood in a lush quiet place is interrupted by the loss of his father. The terrible heat and dust and crowds, sleeplessness of the train journey bring back disturbing instances from the past. Exhausted and almost lifeless upon reaching his destination, he throws himself into the cool waters of the familiar lake nearby and has a vision of his father looking down at him from a boat above. In a self reflexive moment of truth he finds in himself the father he has lost and a realization of his own identity.
