Amrit Gangar, Curator
Mumbai-based curator, historian and theorist, Amrit Gangar has been engaged with his theory of Cinema of Prayoga for the past over a decade. Over these years, he has presented it at various venues in India and abroad including Centre George Pompidou, Paris; the Tate Modern, London; the Danish Film Institute, Copenhagen; Santiniketan, India etc. He writes both in English and Gujarati languages and his books on cinema have been awarded by the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, Gandhinagar. For his curatorial work and writing, the Cinematographers’ Combine has felicitated him. The Federation International des Cine-Clubs (FICC) had awarded him in Berlin in 1989 for his work in the film society movement in India. Amrit Gangar was Consultant Curator for the Mumbai-based the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.
