Anjali Monteiro
Jury

Anjali Monteiro is a documentary filmmaker, media researcher, author, and teacher. She retired as Professor and Dean from the School of Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Together with Prof. K P Jayasankar she has co-directed several award winning documentaries that have been screened in festivals across the world. She has served on the jury of several national and international film festivals. She has also been commissioning editor for several documentary projects. She has co-authored the national award-winning book A Fly in the Curry: Independent Documentary Film in India (Sage, 2016). Her recent publications include the co-edited volumes, DigiNaka: Subaltern Politics and Digital Media in Post-Capitalist India, Orient Blackswan, 2020 and Many Voices, Many Worlds: Critical Perspectives on Community Media in India, Sage, 2021.

 

Avijit Mukul Kishore
Jury

Avijit Mukul Kishore is a filmmaker based in Mumbai. An alumnus of FTII, Pune, he works in documentary films and interdisciplinary moving-image practices, both film-based and digital. He frequently collaborates with other visual artists, architects and academics on video and film-based works. He is involved in cinema pedagogy as a lecturer, writer and curator of film programmes. His works have been shown at key documentary film festivals across the globe. His films as director include Nostalgia for the Future, Squeeze Lime in Your Eye, Vertical City, Certified Universal and Snapshots from a Family Album. His films as cinematographer include Lovely Villa, Palace of Horrors, Kumar Talkies, Kali Salwaar, John and Jane, Seven Islands and a Metro, Bidesia in Bambai, I am Micro and An Old Dog’s Diary,

Dipika Kalra
Jury

Dipika Kalra is an alumnus of FTII, Pune. Since passing out from FTII, she has been working in Mumbai as an editor for almost 15 years and done over 10 feature films, Web shows for OTT platforms, Ads and Music videos. Some of the notable films that she has edited are Udaan (2010) which was the only Indian film selected at Un Certain Regard at the Cannes film Festival after a gap of nine years. Lootera (2013), Ram Prasad Ki Terhvi (2020) and Sherni (2021) are some of the other films. Music Video Theiyye that she edited in 2015 had won the Best Music Video award at IDSFFK.

Hansa Thapliyal
Jury

Hansa Thapliyal is an alumnus of FTII, and has worked in various media, writing, film work, video works, teaching and researching. Narrative Language and the material of making are two of her primary interests. Hansa is currently working on a film mixing animation and live action. She has been teaching at various film and multimedia institutes apart from conducting workshops students, sex workers and transgenders. Directed acclaimed films like The Outside In and Have you Dreamt Cinema, Ghar, Studio Hai and Jee Karta Tha which travelled to festivals across the world. She co-directed and associated with many films and documentaries. Her installation His City for Manifesta7, Italy was well received. Her doll making workshop during the post lockdown was notable. She has collaborated with many artists and filmmakers.

Kamal K M
Jury

Kamal K M is a writer/director who is an alumnus of FTII. He has worked extensively with renowned cinematographer and director Santosh Sivan as an associate director and writer (Before the Rains, Tahaan). ID, his debut feature film, and the first of the Collective Phase One collaboration, was screened at various international film festivals
including Busan, Abu Dhabi, Turino, Marrakech, IFFK, IFFI, Rotterdam, Edinburgh and Los Angeles winning nine awards. Kamal was awarded India’s two major awards for ID, the Aravindan Award and the Gollapudi Srinivas National Award for Best Debut Director. He worked as Associate Professor heading the Screen writing and Direction department in K R Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts, Kerala during 2014- 2017. His second feature Pada was released this year.

Nilita Vachani
Jury


Nilita Vachani is a filmmaker, writer and educator of international repute. She has produced, directed and edited the documentaries, Eyes of Stone, Diamonds in a Vegetable Market and When Mother Comes Home for Christmas. Eyes of Stone won awards at a large number of important film festivals across the globe apart from the Indian President’s Award
for the Best Film on Social Issues. Diamonds in a Vegetable Market won award at the Asian Film Academy awards, London. When Mother Comes Home for Christmas too received awards at Festival dei Popoli, Florence and at Festival Internazionale Delle Donne, Torino. Nilita’s novel Home Spun and her journalistic work have won many awards. Nilita teaches documentary film at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU and the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai.
