12th edition of the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala concluded at Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
“Democracy is not a phenomena which is starting in a day and ending in another day, it is an inherent flow of values, in this circumstance of technological disruption, it is better to give more importance for the feelings and thoughts of common people in the realm of film than the technological perfections‟, said Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan who was the Chief guest of the closing ceremony of the fest. “Documentaries not only educate and inform but also create a sense of responsibility in the minds of the people”, said Minister for Cultural Affairs, A K Balan who was presiding the ceremony.
Chalachitra Academy Vice Chairperson Bina Paul announced the awards at the ceremony. “I hope that a Life Time Achievement Award will not disqualify me from joining the new beginning”, said renowned documentary filmmaker Madhusree Dutta while receiving the Life Time Achievement Award along with two lakh rupees and a memento from Honourable Speaker, P Sreeramakrishnan.
