12th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala Awards

Chalachitra Academy Vice Chairperson Bina Paul announced the awards at the ceremony. Renowned documentary filmmaker Madhusree Dutta received the Life Time Achievement Award along with two lakh rupees and a memento from Honourable Speaker, P Sreeramakrishnan.

“Janani’s Juliet” directed by Pankaj Rishi Kumar and “Moti Bagh” directed by Nirmal Chander Dandriyal shared the award for Best Long Documentary. These films gained entry to Oscar nomination for Best Long Documentary. “Prathichaya” directed by Gayathri Sasiprakash was selected as the Best Campus Film produced within Kerala. “Look at the Sky” directed by Ashok Veilou was selected as the Best Short Fiction and “Bebaak” (Dying Wind in her Hair) directed by Shazia Iqbal as the second Best Short Fiction.

“Chai Darbari” directed by Prateek Shekhar was selected as the Best Short Documentary and “The Sea Laughs at the Mountain” directed by Robin Joy as Second Best Short Documentary. KSFDC Chairman Shaji N Karun gave the Navroze Contractor Award for Best Documentary Cinematography to Sourabh Kanti Dutta for “Longra”.

“Reason” directed by Anand Patwardhan bagged the Award for second best Long Documentary. Patwardhan thanked the organisers of IDSFFK and the Kerala government for standing with him to get his film screened in the fest. Jury Chairman Vasanth S Sai read out the Fiction jury report and the Non- Fiction jury report was read out by Jury Chairperson Andrea Guzman.
