Synopsis: Based on a true story, Bebaak explores the body of patriarchal notions around male-authority and female bodies, a body of thought constructed systematically and built into social and theological premises. The film looks at how the liberal values upheld by an ambitious architecture student are put to test when she is offered a scholarship by a conservative Muslim trust.

Director’s Bio: Shazia Iqbal has been working as a Production Designer for twelve years in the Indian Film & Advertising Industry. She studied ‘Directing for films’ at MET film school, Ealing studios, London. Bebaak is her debut short film. It won the Audience choice award for Best Short at Indian Film festival of Los Angeles, 2019 and Best Short Narrative (Jury Award) at the New York Indian film festival 2019. She designed Anurag Kashyap’s film, Mukkabaaz which premiered at Toronto International film festival (TIFF) and is the lead Production designer for India’s first original Netflix series, Sacred Games.
